Election Fever

Sitting idly at an Asansol hotel where I have come down for an official tour makes me feel very bored. Especially in the evenings when there isn’t much else to do.
The General Elections are underway. Reports at Rediff.com state that around 60% voters cast their votes in the first phase that was held yesterday. Reports also state that the millitant Naxals with a stronghold in Central India caused mayhem at several places, in all killing around 20 people and taking some Government employees hostage. Such instances send a cold chill down my spine. I am a Government employee and would also be drafted into such duty.
These killings are heinous and dastardly. They may have their set of greivances, but so do I, but I don’t go on a killing spree and taking hostages. They need to come to the fore and engage the Government in a meaningful political dialogue.
My heart felt condolences to the families of all those who were killed yesterday.
